Summary of Responsibilities
The Procurement Unit plays a vital role in providing support to all the various projects and programs in Kabul and in the provinces, operations, and all units of the Foundation’s Afghanistan office. The Sr. Procurement Officer is responsible for providing high-level support to all procurement related activities in Kabul and the provinces. He/she works specifically provides support to the execution of transparent and efficient procurement services and processes. He/ she also promotes a client–focused quality and results–oriented approach to the Procurement Unit, and helps project staff in adhering to the procurement rules while facilitating their requests. He/she assists in drawing up new business plans to explore the market. The Procurement Officer contributes to a smooth transparent procurement system that complies with all Foundation policies and procedures including the Procurement Policy, Ethics Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy. He/she serves as Sr.Officer-in-Charge during the absences of the Procurement Director.
Internal Relationships: Maintain frequent contact with members of the Procurement Team, program staff, and operations staff (Administration, Finance, and Security). Participates in periodic meetings with Country Representative, Deputy Country Representatives, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer and the Procurement Director to facilitate / improve/ enhance in house customer services.
External Relationship: Maintain frequent contact with existing vendors and service providers, and with new potential vendors and service providers.
