Democracy International, Inc. (DI) designs, implements, and evaluates democracy and governance programs worldwide. Founded in 2003, DI offers expertise in election processes and election monitoring, political party organizing, local government and decentralization, legislative strengthening, civil society development, strategic communications, and rule of law programming. The firm has extensive experience with assessments, evaluations, project designs, and survey research. DI is based in the United States and is an SBA-registered small business.
 
The main objective of DI in Afghanistan is to build an Afghan-led effort to reform the electoral process. To achieve this objective, DI has been working with a network of nongovernmental organizations to develop a reform agenda, identify activities focused on electoral reform, and to advocate electoral stakeholders to implement changes to the electoral process. In addition, DI has been conducting nationwide multidisciplinary research on citizens’ views of the electoral process.
