Afghans for Progressive Thinking (APT) is a nonprofit organization that works with university students to promote a culture of tolerance, openness, and respect by providing opportunities to engage contemporary issues. Using a two-pronged approach, APT uses two theories—critical thinking theory and contact theory as key strategies to achieve its vision. In order to apply these theories, APT has designed five programs namely debate tournaments, leadership development, international exposures, media, and roundtables.

Since its inception, APT has worked with over 10,000 university students as well as 30 public and private universities in Kabul, Mazar, Samangan, Herat, and Faizabad. APT has partnered and collaborated with universities and civil society organizations both within Afghanistan and abroad.
