Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) was found in 1979 in Tokyo, Japan. It is active in 15 countries including Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Angola, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Zambia in various humanitarian aid programs.
AARJapan set up its Afghanistanoffice in Kabul in January 2002.
During its 15 years commitment in Afghanistan, AAR Japanhas beenconducting Mine Risk Education awareness activities, and also has been providing assistance forpeople with disabilities.
AAR Japan’sMine Risk Education (MRE) Program, in coordinationwith the United Nations Mine Action Center for Afghanistan(UNMACA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF),started in October 2003 in Afghanistan to develop media materials suited foruse within the Mine Action Program for Afghanistan (MAPA)national activities and Community Based Mobile Cinema Projectsthroughout Afghanistan. Today, AAR Japan conducts Mine Risk Education and Disability Awareness Project with financial assistance from Japan Platform and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
