Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Fluency in written and spoken Dari or Pashtu.
• Master’s degree in social science.
• Previous experience working on USAID funded programs or programs funded by large international donors.
Counterpart International is seeking a Civil Society Strengthening Program Officer to work in the programming department of its USAID-funded Afghan Civic Engagement Program (ACEP). The position is based in Kabul, but the selected person will be expected to travel to different regions of Afghanistan on a regular basis. The program officer will form part of the civil society strengthening team in the ACEP programming department. The Civil Society Strengthening team are responsible for managing grants that are awarded to civil society organizations (CSOs) and providing technical support ACEP civil society partners and grantees. The Program Officer will be expected to provide administrative support for organizing events and conferences; support in designing capacity development material and facilitating events; conduct field visits to support partners and grantees; upload data to the counterpart’s global management Information System (GMIS); track grantees progress; and, contribute to department reporting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in either financial management or results based management.
